Mumbai Shamshera was one of the most awaited films of 2022. It marked the return of Ranbir Kapoor after a gap of four years. The trailer had impressed everyone, the song had received a great response, and the promotions were perfect. Everything was in favor of the film before its release, but still it proved to be a flop at the box office.
Shamshera started well with Rs. 10.25 crores, but due to negative reviews and word of mouth, the film did not show any growth at the box office. The film collected Rs 500 crore in its first week. 40.45, and further dropped so badly that the film’s lifetime collection stood at Rs. 42.48 crores at the Indian box office. The worldwide gross collection of Shamshera was Rs. 63.58 crores.
Now let’s talk about the budget of the film. Reportedly, Shamshera was made on a budget of Rs. 150 crores, so even if we take into account the worldwide gross collection, the film is a disaster.
Shamshera was a period drama and Ranbir Kapoor was seen playing a double role in it. The film starred Sanjay Dutt as the antagonist and saw Vaani Kapoor as the female lead.
The makers had promoted the film well but it is clear that the audience is not interested in watching any mediocre content on the big screen. Now, all eyes are set on Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar, which is slated to release on 8th March 2023.
