Directed by Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi, produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby and starring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah and Sohum Shah, the first Indian television series, Dahadd has the honor of being a world of its own. Premiere of the Berlinale Series Competition at the Berlin International Film Festival.
One of the co-producers, Zoya Akhtar shared the big news on Instagram and wrote, “Dahad at #Berlinlay. First Indian web series to premiere at the festival!
This is great news for Dabangg fame Sonakshi Sinha after the box office flop Double XL.
Sinha also expressed his happiness on this and wrote on Instagram, “The roar of #Dahad is echoing in #Berlinlay. As it becomes the first Indian web-series to premiere at the #berlininternationalfilmfestival and proud to be a part of it and can’t wait for the world to hear us roar!!!”
Vijay Varma, on the other hand, wrote, “We start 2023 with great news! #DahadKiDahad roars at #Berlinale as it becomes the first Indian web-series to premiere at the festival.”
The crime drama, which is set in a town in Rajasthan, follows Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhati (Sonakshi) and her colleagues from the neighboring police station as they investigate a series of apparent suicides that may have been the work of a serial killer. It is possible
The official synopsis reads:
Women are disappearing without a trace in Rajasthan and no one is surprised. But police officer Anjali Bhati saw a commonality in the cases: phone calls throughout the night and a boyfriend no one in the neighborhood had ever seen.
Only two of the eight episodes of the criminal drama will be screened at the festival.
The Hindi series is one of seven works competing for the newly established Berlinale Series Prize, which is presented alongside Hollywood publication Deadline. Actor André Holland, producer Danna Stern and playwright Mette Heino make up the jury for the award. The winner of this segment will be announced on February 22, 2023.
Director Reema has earlier worked in films like Made in Heaven, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Talaash. Tiger Baby and Excel Entertainment’s earlier production Gully Boy was also screened in the Special Gala section at Berlinale in 2019. In the Zoya-directed musical, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vijay and Siddhant Chaturvedi were the featured actors.
Later this year, Reema Kagti and Ruchika Oberoi’s web series will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
